Lucy | Update

We are a week down on giving Lucy her eye treatments three times a day. We are only giving her an anti infection meds and with the contact on her eye we are justhoping it heals naturally. Her eye is looking amazing now. She's not squinting like she was and can actually open her eyes just fine. She doesn't seem like she is any pain. So awesome!

I am just so happy she probably won't need any surgery.

Weekend Fun

Last night, Rob, me and a friend went into dwntown Dallas to watch our very first Roller Derby game. One of the ladies in the battle is actually a client of Rob's and she gave him tickets to come. We've never been to a game or even knew the rules, but we caught on pretty quickly.

On a side note, my mom has finally got her apartment. She flew back to New Orleans today to get the rest of her furniture and clothing. I'm exciting, since her place has a fenced in yard, so when my doggy visits she can play outside.

Problems Commenting

I've been told a several times that people are having trouble posting comments. I ran a test to figure out what was going on.

At the end of each post, select "comment"
This will take you to a new page where you can comment.
You have to change "google account" on the scroll down options and select anonymous or whichever one you want.
Then publish!

Hope this helps everyone!

New Dresser

I finally decided to get a dresser. I ran out of room in the closet and had to keep all my clean clothes piled up in baskets. So viola! Mom and I went to ikea to just look around and I found this one I really liked. Only $300. The only downfalls: Rob and I had to build it ourselves, so we messed up on one part, and second, it was supposed to be a dark brown, but turned out black. I think they stained it too dark since the box had dark brown on it. Oh well. I guess that'll be the color of my bedroom set now; black.

I think it goes well with my paintings, but I've grown tired of them and was actually planning on painting over them!

I also got new curtains. I've been dying for some lace curtains and/or black and white stripped curtains.
I got these at ikea as well. I'm in love with the lace details, and placing them so high on my wall makes my room look larger. I couldn't get a very good picture due to the sunlight, so this is the best I could get!

Lucy | Update

Rob and I have been putting drops in Lucy's eye for 4 day now. She can open her eye now, but both eyes are just caked in eye boogers. We've never had a problem with that before. Her left eye is the problem  but her right eye looks just as bad, so I called our vet to let them know. He told me to just put drops in both eyes and if the right one is shut then we have to bring her in as well. Only a week and a half until we can get her cone off!

Book Club | Brain on Fire

I started a book club with some friends from work, and it's slowly growing in number. So far we have 6 people, and I believe the next book is going to double.

This month's book: Brain on Fire: My Month of Madness by Susannah Cahalan

It's a true story about a journalist for the NY Times who goes mad. \

"One day in 2009, twenty-four-year-old Susannah Cahalan woke up alone in a strange hospital room, strapped to her bed, under guard, and unable to move or speak. A wristband marked her as a “flight risk,” and her medical records—chronicling a month long hospital stay of which she had no memory at all—showed hallucinations, violence, and dangerous instability. Only weeks earlier, Susannah had been on the threshold of a new, adult life: a healthy, ambitious college grad a few months into her first serious relationship and a promising career as a cub reporter at a major New York newspaper. Who was the stranger who had taken over her body? What was happening to her mind?
In this swift and breathtaking narrative, Susannah tells the astonishing true story of her inexplicable descent into madness and the brilliant, lifesaving diagnosis that nearly didn't happen. A team of doctors would spend a month—and more than a million dollars—trying desperately to pin down a medical explanation for what had gone wrong. Meanwhile, as the days passed and her family, boyfriend, and friends helplessly stood watch by her bed, she began to move inexorably through psychosis into catatonia and, ultimately, toward death. Yet even as this period nearly tore her family apart, it offered an extraordinary testament to their faith in Susannah and their refusal to let her go."

Doggy Problems

Rob and I have been noticing a problem with our dog's eyes for the last couple of weeks. They've been really watery and red. I just thought it was typical of bulldogs, which it is to a certain extent. This morning I noticed she couldn't open her left eye and immediately scheduled an appointment for Rob to take her to our vet. While I'm at work Rob gives me a call and tells me that our poor doggy has an ulcer on her left eye. We were given eye dropd to put in daily for 2 weeks. As long as we take good care of her eye she'll be fine. If not we have to get surgery to remove her eye.

This is really sad for us. Lucy is like our own little baby. She is so miserable with her head cone on and her eye swelled shut.

Update | Leg

So, as of today I haven't gone back to my chiropractor since friday morning. I'm still in pain, but not the screaming crying pain I am in after seeing the doctor. I am just doing my own set of stretches, heating and icing my lower back, and taking ibprofen. My parents who are both in the medical field think it's just a pinched nerve in my iliac, not si dysfunction. I am going to a normal doctor Wednesday to get some muscle relaxers.

On a side note, IT'S SNOWING.... AGAIN!!

Update | Chiro and Savings

I haven't been on my blog in a little while because I've been in some excruciating pain lately. I've had a pain in my right leg for about 4 weeks now, and even though it was getting slowly better I decided to go see a Chiropractor. I went in on Wednesday night and my doctor hooked me up to an electro therapy machine for about 15 minutes. We took some x-rays after and she showed me that the bottom part of my spine curves off to the right, and it also rotated to the right. My pelvic bone is also 10 mm shorter on the right side. She explained to me that I have SI joint dysfunction. Afterwards she did some small adjustments to my back, which included popping my back and using a had-held machine that she pushes up my spine and it just clicks. Not a big deal. But then the next night I was in extreme paint. Out of a 1-10 I was an 11. I couldn't stand at work long, and had to ice my back, doctor prescribed.
I went back for a second appointment Friday morning. I came 30 mins early and the receptionist hooked me back up to the electro therapy machine for 15 minutes. When the doctor came in she took me back to her office, asked how much pain I was in, and did more adjustments. Right after she advise that now I ice it and put moist heat on my lower back, and do some stretches. I didn't even see her but 10 minutes and she never explained what stretches. So all day at work I was in very very bad pain. When I got home I was in so much pain I couldn't sit or lay down. Level of pain : 14. I was in tears. My foot went numb, and turned red. Orginally the pain was only in my upper leg, now it's travelling down to my foot and into my lower back.

I'm not entirely sure I should go back or not. I think she diagnosed me correctly, but I'm in more pain than before. I heard mixed reviews about the pain. Some say it's going to hurt everytime I get an adjustment since she's trying to put my spine and hip back in the right spot, but others say to get another opinion. I can only use 20 visits in this calendar year. I've already used 2 (for my insurance.)

What to do...what to do....

But of course, I never miss a deal! Whether I'm hurt or not, glade can't get cheaper than this. I got a few of these, and some Air Wick candles for 70 cents.

Shopping | New Purse

So I have been searching for months now for a black purse that I really like. I've been only looking at Ross or TJMaxx thinking I could score a great deal, but I can never find one! They're either too small, super shiny, or have the letter all over. I like to keep things plain and simple so I can reuse for years, and match with just about everything.
So tonight I made a quick stop at Ross and finally found a purse for $40 which I really like. It has a ton of space and pockets inside, and has some pretty cool zippers on the sides.

Tyler Rodan bag.

Zippers on the side. They just have extra pockets on the side, which I won't use.

Recap | Christmas

Apologies for the bad camera resolution. I've been using my phone camera, and it's not that amazing when they're blow up.

This is just a quick recap of our first Christmas in Dallas. We didn't really spend Christmas in Dallas last year, that's why I'm calling it our first! This year I really wanted to buy a real Christmas Tree. Little did I know how huge the stand was going to be! I don't tend to think ideas through, I just thought it was going to turn out amazing. Nope! We bought lights and they didn't even cover the whole tree, our star was drooping, and the tree was just lop-sided.

We went to Vitruviun Park Christmas Eve after we visited Rob's family. So pretty :)

Christmas Eve

Rob and me at my sister's. Everyone had the flu, so we decided to put masks on! Rob still got sick!
